Mandalay Restaurant and Café, a family-run business that serves authentic Burmese cuisine, is moving to the District of Columbia from its Silver Spring location on the Bonifant Street.
The restaurant will start operating in its new place at 7302 Georgia Avenue in D.C. this August, according to the owners’ announcement over Facebook. It will keep serving its Silver Spring customers during its regular hours until the moving date.
Mandalay’s spicy Burmese dishes include vegetarian and vegan options, as well as a full bar. It moved to Silver Spring in 2005 from College Park.
Source of the Spring reported that the decision to move stemmed largely from concerns over the coming construction of the Purple Line, attributing it to Joe Myint, manager of the restaurant and a family member.
Myint told the outlet that previous construction works in the neighborhood had affected their business negatively.
